Salt Straps Elevate Basic Bags To Style Statements, Instantly.

This denim jumpsuit BTW is from Abercrombie Kids- I am wearing a size 15/16 and it fits perfectly- plus, it is under $50 and super soft. Photo Credit: Julia Dags.

Things that give new life to old things in my closet make me VERY happy. Because I like holding on to stuff. For example, the bag in this photo is from the first big brand collaboration I ever did (nearly a decade ago!) for Coach. And it had been collecting dust in my closet for years. Then, I became the ecstatic recipient of a pair of SALT straps, which caught my eye on Instagram back when I was scouting product to include in a “Style Staples” themed installment of my Better Basics series on “Today” earlier this year.

Initially, it was the gorgeously curated SALT Instagram feed that piqued my interest. Then, upon further inspection (or more accurately, realizing that the skinny straps on many of my favorite totes were not doing me any favors- uncomfortable digging into my shoulder and unflattering cutting across my body and creating unnecessary lumps and bumps), I was like- these straps are smart styling. The gorgeous embroidery patterns, the endless color options, and the generous width are accessory game changers- especially when hooked onto cross-body bags.

Handmade by artisans in Colombia using ethical fair trade practices and renewable resources, then finished with natural vegetable dyed leather and brass hardware in NYC, the SALT quality is top notch. There are 2 width options- I vote for the classic version which is 2.75”- I feel like if you are gonna do it, DO IT, ya know?- or a skinny strap which is 1.5”. As a strong believer in what I call the Olsen Twins rule of fashion- the bigger your accessory, the smaller you look in comparison- I find the classic width to create a better proportion to my body and it distributes the weight of the 10 million pounds of crap I have in my bag more evenly.

Any bag that you have sitting around with rings on either side of the top handles will work with the SALT strap. In many cases said bags may already come with basic removable straps but- even though they don’t say this on their website- if you have a small bag that has short top handles affixed by rings but designed for hand-carrying, you can add the SALT strap on and just let the short handles fall to the side.

Check out the endless style options HERE- my personal favorites are the HAZEL and the DUKE (same style as my strap in the photo above, but in ivory and navy blue- the one I have here looks like it is sold out already!)

I mean, how gorgeous is the craftmanship on these SALT Straps? Handmade in Colombia, and finished here in NYC.

Note: SALT’s pr agency reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in receiving product, to which I replied” YES!”- the two straps pictured are gifted, however, the review of said straps in this blog post are completely my own and this is not sponsored content! Just wanted to make sure to always be clear about those specifics with you guys.
